2023 Fantasy Football Week 5 Trade Targets | Jaylen Waddle | Puka Nacua (2024)

Welcome to our 2023 Fantasy Football Week 5 Trade Targets article.

We now have a full month of the season in the books. We're at the point where you must re-evaluate certain player valuations. Many times, owners looking to trade can be their own biggest obstacle in getting a deal done. We're all guilty of getting hung up on the draft day price that we paid for players.

You drafted Garrett Wilson in the 2nd round with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. Now with Zach Wilson trying to avoid the iceberg, would you rather have Puka Nacua or Wilson?

How about Breece Hall? Would you rather have Hall or Kyren Williams?

Khalil Herbert, Samaje Perine, and AJ Dillon were drafted as coveted RB3 options. You wouldn't be able to package all 3 of them for De'Von Achane at this point. In fact, the Achane owner would laugh at you if you proposed a trade for Najee Harris (whom you drafted in the third round) straight up! Hell, I'd give you AJ Dillon for a half-eaten, stale bag of Flamin' Cheetos.

The point is that player valuations are fluid and we must adapt our thinking. Of course, this article is predicated on taking advantage of owners adjusting them incorrectly. Sometimes there is a real gap between perceived value vs. actual value. And sometimes, perception isreality.

We are also about to embark upon the bye weeks for the remainder of the Fantasy Football season. You may have already had to persevere through significant injuries and now the NFL is going to take away other vital appendages from your team?! Now is when you have to be vigilant about taking an honest assessment of your team's weaknesses and how to address them. You should be looking a few weeks ahead so you can prepare for significant bye-week issues, especially if you're 0-4 or 1-3.

If you're looking good at 4-0 or 3-1, look for owners that aren't faring as well. Look at the players that have underperformed for them and go try to acquire distressed stocks. You can exercise more patience than they can.

Here are some trade targets you should be looking to acquire before Week 5

Everyone wants a piece of this offense, especially after seeing what they did last week against Denver. Waddle missed Week 3 with a concussion but was cleared this week and had a disappointing four catches for 46 yards. His first two weeks were nothing to get excited about either. On most teams that don't have Tyreek Hill, Waddle would be their WR1.

Waddle has been awfully quiet so far, not having only 16 targets over his three games and catching only four balls in each game. Owners spent a second-round pick to draft Waddle and haven't come close to getting a return on that investment. The correction is coming and it will soon be his turn to eat, perhaps as early as this week against the Giants.

There aren't really too many affordable pieces of this offense to acquire, but Waddle is one that you may actually be able to pry away from an impatient and struggling owner. He's my top trade target this week.

The clock is ticking before the explosion. Start sizing up the Waddle owner's situation and see what it might take to get him...NOW!
